Resume
The article highlights the main theoretical and applied principles of the development of renewable energy in Ukraine as an element of national security. The European integration aspect of the development of domestic renewable energy in Ukraine is characterized. It is noted that under current conditions, energy security is a key component of the country’s national security. And for Ukraine, this is extremely relevant given the ongoing military aggression of russia, which deliberately strikes at the domestic critical energy infrastructure. At the same time, global challenges related to climate change require the transformation of traditional energy systems in the areas of decarbonization, decentralization, and the introduction of renewable energy sources. Today, renewable energy is an integral part of the modern national security architecture of our country, and its development should be synergistic and harmonious with European standards for a stable, secure energy future.
The European integration vector of Ukraine’s development creates new requirements for the structure of the energy sector, focused on the implementation of norms. At the same time, European practices will contribute to the formation of an appropriate institutional and legal framework, attract investment, develop clean energy technologies, and create conditions for the emergence and development of energy communities. Analyzing the formation and development of domestic renewable energy allows us to assess the achievements and shortcomings of the state policy in this area, to formulate strategic approaches to further integration into the European energy space, ensuring stable development and strengthening energy independence. A review of the literature has made it possible to state the interdisciplinary nature of the topic, which comprehensively combines energy, security, ecology, economics, management, law, and politics. The paper provides a comparative description of the structures of the energy balances of Ukraine and the EU in 2024. The study showed that the two main factors affecting the level of development of renewable energy in Ukraine are the following: the need for investment, especially foreign investment, and military operations, as the total capacity of Ukraine’s renewable energy sector has decreased due to them. The article offers systematized promising directions for further development of Ukraine’s renewable energy sector as an element of national security in the context of European integration.
