Resume
The article examines the relevance and necessity of studying the hotel and restaurant business and recreational tourism in Ukraine, as well as their development at both the national and regional levels. The number of visitors to tourist accommodation facilities in Ukraine has been  calculated and analyzed.
The positive and negative aspects of the hotel and restaurant business and recreational tourism, which influence the country’s attractiveness for tourists, have been explored. An assessment of landscape resources, recreational resources, and health and recreational areas has been provided.
In many developed countries, the hotel and restaurant business, tourism, and recreation are significant sectors of social activity and a factor in ensuring a high standard of living for the population. Socially, the hotel and restaurant business, tourism, and recreation contribute to the health and recovery of the labor potential of human resources, the rationalization of leisure time, physical and emotional enrichment, and the cultivation of cultural and religious  tolerance.
Therefore, improving the state of Ukraine’s hotel and restaurant business and tourism-recreational industry is a necessary condition for enhancing the quality of life of the population and the overall economic development of the country.
